Sullivan Thinks Cruz is a Lock To Make Team
In discussing the bullpen situation in Thursday’s Chicago Tribune, Paul Sullivan stated that if Antonio Alfonseca started the year on the DL, “it could open a spot for Joe Borowski or Rod Beck as the sixth man in the bullpen. [Mike] Remlinger, Dave Veres, Mark Guthrie, Kyle Farnsworth and Juan Cruz appear virtually assured of the other five spots, barring a late-spring trade.”
I had assumed Borowski was all but assured of a spot, not Cruz. Sullivan likely has some inside info as the Cubs beat reporter. His assertion in that paragraph, though, didn’t indicate any inside info.
